Who is SCGC? ​As a Civil Engineer graduate from Clemson University, Henry worked with industrial contractors while in school that focused on the concrete foundations initially and then joined the team that fabricated, built, and installed the industrial equipment. He was hired by Nucor Steel when he graduated from Clemson to help with the team that built a massive steel mill with over a billion-dollar budget in 2000. He was part of the maintenance team that constructed, commissioned, then maintained redesigned and improved the operations of the facility before moving back home and working with the maintenance team in Darlington. This gave Mr. Simpson a broad understanding of how industrial facilities work, fail, and are repaired or modified for streamlining operations. This experience, owning an auto mechanic shop, and building homes has created a uniquely diverse skillset that is desirable in industrial settings and in his words, “makes issues that once seemed hard, simple.” Henry has always wanted to build things and be challenged so he took a leap of faith, left a very strong company to get into construction. He worked as a project manager and estimator for 3-1/2 years for a Commercial and Industrial construction company before stepping out on his own. He sold and managed about 20 Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings in that time frame as well as various industrial construction projects. Now running his own company in a relatively short period of time, SCGC has completed a multitude of industrial projects in several facilities, built commercial buildings, renovated complete homes, as well as smaller residential projects.
